Kotaku Previews MySims Agents

AJ Glasser from Kotaku recently got her hands on MySims Agents for the Wii. So far she really likes it. The only problem she found was the platforming is not that great compared to the puzzle solving aspects of the game. Check out her preview here

The MySims Racing Reviews Arrive

It's been a chaotic week over here at SN HQ. As soon as I got home from vacation my computer died, so i haven't had much of a chance to update. So, while i was on vacation 3 reviews for MySims Racing popped up on the web.

By no means bad, but less than we'd expect from the MySims 'franchise'. Limps home a distant second place to the real thing.

The inevitable comparison between Mario Kart and MySims Racing is unfair at best: even if the game is kinda fun to play, EA's title can't be nearly as good as Nintendo's milestone. If you can get over it, you'll find yourself with a nice but unpolished racing game.

MySims Agents Preview

Mark Bozon from IGN got his hands on MySims Agents as part of the EA Pre-E3 event (For those interested, E3 starts on June 2nd). HE talked a lot about the investigation system, and soem of the mini-games

MySims Agents follows the story of your young Sim as they unveil the corrupt underbelly of the city, and it all revolved around the sinister Morcubus, corrupt CEO and shot-caller for all things evil. He's even got mayor Skip Rogers in his pocket, and when the mayor goes sour you know there will be blood.

What's weird if that there is no Building in MySims Agents, it's all platforming and standard adventure gameplay.

Gamespot Previews MySims Racing

Gamespot has also gotten hands-on with MySims Racing and have written up a preview for the game, and they also seem to like it.

We had a chance to see only a few tracks, but there seems to be quite a bit of variety and things to do, especially if you're helping the townsfolk with their problems. You don't have to complete all of the challenges, but we were told that there are at least 10 hours of gameplay if you head straight to the finish line. Otherwise, you can easily spend more than 20 hours collecting parts and beating all of the challenges.

Kotaku Previews MySims Racing

AJ Glasser from Kotaku recently got her hands on MySims Racing, and for the most part seems to like the Mario-Kart ripoff.

Using the currency that you pick up from different tracks, you can change pretty much everything on your kart from the engine to the body. Different parts affect the handling, top speed and weight of the kart, while special parts obtained from completing challenges can give you bonuses to handling, speed or weight.

IGN Reviews MySims Party

IGN posted its review for MySims Party today giving it a 6/10 or "Passable". This is the lowest MySims game rating thus far. Daemon Hatfield has this to say

What is here is enough to be a fun little mini-game collection (again, for kids). In our review for MySims Kingdom last year we wrote that Electronic Arts could be doing much more with this franchise. That is still the case.

In a Nutshell it is a decent Mini-game collection for kids, similar to Mario Party or Carnival Games.

IGN MySims Party Impressions

IGN got a look at MySims Party at this years CES. And they today have published their preview of the game

"The Wii version of the title includes 50 and the DS 40 mini-games, all of them hosted by a unique MySims character. The console build supports four-player matches and all of the MySims avatars show different attributes that can be used in battle. For instance, some might be speedier than others. More might be quicker on the draw, and so forth. It's possible to play through all of the games consecutively or alternatively compete in a themed festival that encapsulates a handful of minis. "

Rumor: MySims Racing?

I must say that i looked forward to the first MySims game, it seemed fresh, and new. But Allgame.com has posted a new page for "MySims Racing" with a release in 2009. If i were to take a guess at what it would be like, i would guess maybe similar to the Mario Kart type racing. Something Kid friendly, which obviously fits the Wii and DS well. We'll keep you up to date on any developments that occur regarding the MySims Franchise.

MySims Party Boxart

EA has released the new Boxart for MySims Party. While i am fairly impressed with it, it feels like EA is really going to start expanding upon the MySims franchise (as you will see in posts hitting later today). Anyway you can check out the Wii and DS Boxcovers below, MySims ships in early 2009.

MySims Party First Screenshots

Sims De Toi has stumbled across 15 new MySims Party screenshots for the Wii. We have posted them all after this, and we hope to have a galery up shortly! It appears to be a Mini-game type game for the Wii with up to 4 players playing simulatniously on the Wii. The Wii is famous for this type of game, and i am rather dissapointed with EAs choice of gameplay style. Anyway check out the screens below!

MySims Kingdom Nominated for Best Wii Simulation Game of 2008

MySims kingdom was the runner up for Best Simulation game for the Wii in 2008 by IGN.com today. While yes there was only one other game (animal Crossing City Folk, which won) it still shows that MySims Kingdom is here to stay. Congrats to all the folks at EA who worked on the game.

I know its strange to still be posting MySims Kingdom stuff, but the escapist has put up an interview! Check it out! MySims Kingdom is out on the Wii and DS now, MySims Party will be coming soon.

MySims Party Release Date?

A release date for MySims Party has shown up on gamestop for March 10th 2009. Now this is an unconfirmed date at this time, but it seems like a reasonable time frame for the next game in the MySims series. Gamestop also shows it as a Wii Game, but nothing on a PC or DS Version of the game. We will keep an eye on any developments on MySims Party, and will add a countdown to the side, of the page with Sim Animals, and The Sims 3

IGN Reviews MySims Kingdom

IGN has finally reviewed MySims Kingdom, giving it a decent 7.3 "Decent" score.

"MySims Kingdom is a safe sequel with just enough improvements to satisfy fans of the first game. While some enhancements have arrived free of sacrifices, others have come with trade-offs. I love the new themed kingdom design, the significant improvements to load times, on-the-fly construction and Wii controller implementation. Meanwhile, I think the more focused storyline has also nurtured a more linear experience, a fact that clashes with the nature of the franchise. On the same note, the underdeveloped AI characters and missing online component seem at odds with the other Sims games. This is still a fun title -- one with more polish than the original -- but I think EA can still do much more with the series and am eagerly awaiting the next version."

Metacritic has yet to add the score from IGN.

1up Reviews MySims Kingdom

MySims kingdom has been out quite a while now, but the reviews are still trickling in.  1up just posted their review giving it a poor "C-" grade, which i think improperly translates on metacritic as a 42/100.  Obviously the games Metacritic score took a massive hit lowering it about 5 points down to a 76/100.  With that said here is a quote from the review;

"Kingdom's elementary building blocks result in a decent kids' game that serves as a gentle introduction to the toolbox genre...at best. I'd love to see what a more cerebral MySims game would look like, but given the Wii's target audience, I'll just have to serve my king's leisure."

Gamespot Reviews MySims Kingdom

Today gamespot published their review for MySims gingdom giving it a 7.5 or "Good" rating.  Siting that the game is fun to play with families, and its cutesy art style.

"Finishing the main story should take about eight hours, though that could be doubled if you feel like hunting down every object and completing optional tasks. Despite the occasional camera or control snag, MySims Kingdom is a lot of fun and recommended for those new to The Sims or for anyone looking for a lighthearted, laid-back adventure."
